In a bathroom that is the vast majority of what you own: tubes, brushes, cotton wool, nail scissors, the second toothbrush. Put those on an open shelf and they migrate. Put them in a drawer and they are found by opening one drawer.\n\nCupboards are for tall and bulky. Toilet roll multipacks, a stack of folded towels, the big bottle of bleach, a hairdryer with a cable that will not coil. None of that lies flat in a drawer.\n\nThe adjustable shelf is the part that stops the cupboard being wasted. Set it high and you get a tall opening for bottles with a shallow one underneath. Set it low and you get two towel-height spaces. Decide after you have loaded it, not before.\n\nBeing honest about MDF in a bathroom\n\nWater resistant is a real specification, and it is not the same word as waterproof.\n\nThe finish on this cabinet is made for what a bathroom actually does: damp air after a shower, condensation on a cold morning, the occasional splash from the basin. That is the environment it is built for, and it handles it.\n\nWhat damages MDF is water reaching the board itself, and the two places that happens are the top surface and the base. A wet bottle left standing in the same spot slowly works through a finish. A base sitting in water that ran down a wall does it faster.\n\nNeither is hard to avoid. Wipe spills instead of leaving them, stand plants on a saucer, and put the cabinet somewhere that gets damp air rather than direct water.\n\nWhat not to store in it\n\nThere is no lock on the drawers or the door.\n\nThat matters for two categories: medicines and cleaning chemicals. A cabinet at floor level with drawers a toddler can open is the wrong home for either. Those belong high up or behind something that locks.\n\nEverything else that clutters a bathroom is exactly what this is for.",
